How To Sell At 2nd Culture
Got pieces you're ready to let go? We buy, trade and sell streetwear, vintage, sneakers and accessories, and make sure every piece finds a new owner who'll actually wear it.
You can sell for cash or trade it in for store credit, whichever works better for you (trade-in offers are always slightly higher than cash offers). Cash gets paid out in store on the spot. Bank transfers land within 2 business days.
Got something special we're not ready to buy outright? That's where consignment comes in. We list it for you, and once it finds its next owner, we divide the sale based on the consignment agreement.
How it works
Direct buy-in, trade-in, and consignment all follow the same first few steps. The only thing that changes is what happens once we've checked your item.
Start your sell-in
Three ways to reach us: walk into the store (Haarlemmerdijk 144, Amsterdam, no appointment needed, though peak times can mean a wait), DM us on Instagram, or email info@2ndculture.nl. Include the item's description, size, and photos. If you're reaching us by DM or email, include your asking price too — for walk-ins it's not required.
We review and reply
For DMs and emails, our team gets back to you. For walk-ins, this happens while you're in the store.
We check it
We thoroughly check the authenticity and condition of the item. This may take some time, because we always guarantee 100% authenticity for our items, so a thorough check is needed.
We decide together: buy-in, trade-in, or consignment
See "How we decide" below.
Price & terms confirmed
We negotiate a price for the items you want to sell, either in cash or trade-in value. Requests via Instagram and email require an asking price; items brought in store don't, though it does speed up the process. Trade-in offers are always slightly higher than cash offers. Consignment items get a listing price agreed together instead. Either way, we finalize the deal with our buy-in forms in store.
In the store
Consignment items go live. Buy-in and trade-in items go straight into our own inventory.
Payout
Usually cash or bank transfer on the spot for a buy-in, or store credit right away for a trade-in. If an item needs extra authentication time, we'll tell you upfront and the payout follows within 1 to 2 days instead. For consignment, bank transfer within 14 days of sale.
Direct buy-in, trade-in, or consignment: how we decide
Most sell-ins end up as a direct buy-in or trade-in. We make you an offer, and you choose cash or store credit on the spot. This is our default, whether you're bringing in one item or a batch of them — five, ten, twenty pieces still get bought or traded in directly. It's the fastest route for almost everyone walking through the door.
We only suggest consignment in a few situations:
A single high-value item
Roughly €500 to 1000+, where listing it at the right price in-store gets you meaningfully more than a same-day offer would.
A more niche item
Not everything we take on consignment is high-value — sometimes it's simply a piece with a smaller, more specific audience, where finding the right buyer takes a bit more time than a same-day buy-in allows.
A genuinely large collection
Think 50+ pieces, like a full wardrobe of designer clothing or a large run of the same sneaker. For collections at that scale, we advise booking an appointment first, so we can properly determine whether a full buy-out is possible or consignment is the better fit.
Outside of those cases, we buy or trade in directly.
Example scenarios
Direct buy-in
You bring in one pair of Jordan 1s in great condition. We check authenticity and condition, make you a cash offer on the spot, you accept, and you walk out with money in hand. For trickier items that need more time to authenticate, we'll tell you on the spot and the payout follows within 1 to 2 days instead.
Trade-in
You bring in a jacket you no longer wear and you'd rather have store credit than cash. We make you a trade-in offer on the spot, you accept, and the credit is ready to spend right away.
Consignment (single grail)
You bring in a rare Stone Island jacket worth around €800. Rather than buy it outright at a price that undercuts what it's actually worth, we agree on a listing price and list it in-store. Once it sells, we divide the sale based on the consignment agreement, and you get paid within 14 days.
Bulk collection
You want to sell a large collection in one go, say 50+ pairs of the same sneaker, or a full wardrobe of designer clothing. For collections at that scale, we advise booking an appointment first, so we can properly determine whether a full buy-out is possible or consignment is the better fit.

FAQ
Can I sell you my item, or do you buy shoes?
Yes, we buy and trade with all types of sellers. Everything has to pass our quality check first.
How do I start a sell-in?
Three ways: walk into the store (no appointment, though peak times can mean a wait), DM us on Instagram, or email info@2ndculture.nl. All need the same information: item description, size, and photos. If you're reaching us by DM or email, an asking price is required too; for walk-ins it's not required, we can figure it out together in person.
Can I trade in my item instead of selling it for cash?
Yes. On a direct sell-in, you can choose cash or store credit, whichever works better for you. Trade-in offers are always slightly higher than cash offers. Both are handled on the spot.
Consignment or direct sell, which one is it for me?
For almost everyone, it's a direct buy-in or trade-in: we make an offer, you get paid or credited the same day. We only suggest consignment for a single item worth roughly €500 to 1000+, a more niche item that needs the right buyer, or a genuinely large collection, 50+ pieces.
When do I get paid?
Direct buy-in: usually the same day, cash or bank transfer. Trade-in: store credit on the spot. If your item needs more time to authenticate, we'll let you know on the spot, and the payout follows within 1 to 2 days instead. Consignment: within 14 days of your item selling, via bank transfer.
What if my consigned item doesn't sell?
We list every consigned item for a minimum of 30 days. That's the time we need to photograph it, promote it on the website and Instagram, and give it a real shot at selling. If it hasn't sold after those 30 days, we reach out to you and decide together what's next: reduce the price, pick up the item, or keep the price as is for another round.
Can I get my item back before it sells?
Yes. Once we take an item on consignment, we put real time into it: cleaning, photographing, listing it on the website and Instagram. If you want to pull it out of consignment within the first 30 days, there's a 20% fee on the agreed consignment payout price, to cover that work. After the first 30 days, you can retrieve it without that fee.
How do you check quality and authenticity?
Every item is checked individually by our team for authenticity and condition. Deadstock (DS) means unworn, with tags, complete, and in original box. Shoes over ten years old aren't given a star rating; we explain their condition in writing instead.
